Mountains Move

“Everything can be affected by prayer. God wouldn’t say everything if everything couldn’t be affected.” –Beth Moore “The Daniel Study”

As they left Bethany the next day, he was hungry. Off in the distance he saw a fig tree in full leaf. He came up to it expecting to find something for breakfast, but found nothing but fig leaves. (It wasn't yet the season for figs.) He addressed the tree: "No one is going to eat fruit from you again—ever!" And his disciples overheard him…
In the morning, walking along the road, they saw the fig tree, shriveled to a dry stick. Peter, remembering what had happened the previous day, said to him, "Rabbi, look—the fig tree you cursed is shriveled up!” Jesus was matter-of-fact: "Embrace this God-life. Really embrace it, and nothing will be too much for you. This mountain, for instance: Just say, 'Go jump in the lake'—no shuffling or shilly-shallying—and it's as good as done. That's why I urge you to pray for absolutely everything, ranging from small to large. Include everything as you embrace this God-life, and you'll get God's everything. And when you assume the posture of prayer, remember that it's not all asking. If you have anything against someone, forgive—only then will your heavenly Father be inclined to also wipe your slate clean of sins." – Mark 11:14 & 20-25 (msg)
 Thoughts//

When we pray in faith for something to happen --for a “mountain to move” per-say...sometimes, it doesn’t move right away. It takes time. I find it interesting that when Jesus told the fig tree that no one would ever eat from it again--it did not ,in that moment, wither up and die. It wasn’t until on the way back the following day that Peter saw the affects of what Jesus had spoken the day before.

Sometimes I want things to happen RIGHT NOW. If you are like me you think the idea of a mountain moving as something instant. Not, that God can’t move a ‘mountain’ in your life instantly, because he can…but sometimes God is moving mountains in our lives and circumstances, but we just can't see them moving in the moment. God is moving mountains...He just may be moving them slower than we would like. It may seem like nothing is happening, but if you are praying about it (your mountain) in faith you can rest assure God is moving it.

I love that Jesus told his disciples “That’s why I urge you to pray about absolutely everything…” Prayer can affect everything. From the biggest thing to the littlest thing, prayer affects everything…but it always requires faith.  Peter didn’t notice that the fig tree had shriveled up to nothing but a dry stick until the next day,but the moment Jesus spoke...it was as good as done.  Even when you can't see God moving mountains…don’t doubt that He is. Jesus’ words came to pass. No one was going to eat from that fig tree ever again, and no one ever has! Have faith!
