Earthquakes

 When you said that You moved Mountains

I did not think that meant

Pain and tears and heartache

I thought that meant you would lift

Lift away the pain
Lift away the tears

Lift away anything that caused me to fear

Lift away the hurt that crept in at night

Lift away the questions that filled my mind

Lift away the sadness that clouded my way

Lift away the doubt that tripped me up in my faith

Lift away the people that brought me only harm

And all that would remain was nothing that could harm

When you said you would move mountains

If I only I would ask

I didn’t think that would mean earthquakes

Earthquakes I thought only break apart

Earthquakes I thought brought pain

Earthquakes I thought brought only panic

Earthquakes I have found can bring hope

Earthquakes can bring new beginnings

Earthquakes tear down walls

Earthquakes allow us to start new

Earthquakes are scary

You feel out of control

Until you realize the One shaking things up

Holds…

He holds the universe

He hold you in his hand

He holds earth and our lives in his loving hands

Nothing is ever out of his control

If earthquakes come

And floods come rushing in

If might be so that new life can begin

I have learn to not associate Earthquakes and Floods with pain

Because my faith would not be what it is

If God didn’t shake things up and at times bring on the rains
