Addicted

Today I was in my car running some errands. Just another beautiful day in Georgia,I had my windows down and radio/iPod up; as it should be! ;) Then a song came on that reminded me of a certain season in my life. Music is amazing that way to me. A song can come on and you are right back to that time, or season in your life. Music captures as well as trigger moments and memories.

Anyway, the song that came on was "Addicted" by Kelly Clarkson. Every girl has her "angry breakup song" or in my case the "angry heart break album" Kelly Clarkson's "Since you've been gone" album. Every time i hear the album ,now, i laugh. But at the time I was far from laughing. I am going to try and make a long story short ...haha right! Well In High School I met a guy , looking back 7 years since i met him, was the furthest thing from the will of God for my life. I let my heart, and emotions, override sound judgment and warnings. But i liked him I was 16 he was 17 (now the "sound of music" is in my head...WOW i am so A.D.D...haha) anywho basically "the thing" we had was innocent compared to what it could have been. But by the time my senior year came, he had graduated but we still talked. I knew the situation was not good, but my heart was too caught up in it or in him at this point. Praise God who pulls us from the pit. He pulled me out of something i couldn't get myself out of emotionally. Because of His Word, he set my heart free. But during all the craziness this was the song I could relate to, its how i felt. I am sure many other girls feel that way. They are in relationships, that they have no business being in. God has so much more for you, and someone far better than you can imagine right now, or in the moment, but you've invested to much now. I know for me it wasn't physicaly, but emotionally and mentally. As i listen to this song again, these verses came to mind that i heard just a few days ago:

Matthew 5:29-30 (New Living Translation)
29 So if your eye—even your good eye[a]—causes you to lust, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your hand—even your stronger hand[b]—causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.

Whatever it is that is causing you to stumble and fall away from the Lord cut it off! Let if go. It may hurt in the moment, but i can tell you retrospectively now looking back almost 7 years later ,God has so much better for you. I know in High School you can't see beyond the moment sometimes but trust me, if you will trust Jesus and believe and love Him, He will BLOW YOUR MIND! 1 Cor 2:9
